Presentation Ceremony of “Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme” for preparing 2022 Asian Games and 2024 Olympic Games

The Presentation Ceremony of "Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme" (the Programme) was successfully concluded on 8 August 2022 at the Olympic House. Mr. Timothy T. T. FOK, President of SF&OC and Dr. David MONG, Chairman and Group CEO of Shun Hing Group were the Officiating Guests and expressed their warmest welcome to five attending awardees：Ms. CHING Siu Nga Jessica (Athletics), Mr. NG Ka Long Angus (Badminton), Mr. CHOI Chun Yin Ryan (Fencing), Ms. LIN Yik Hei Coco (Fencing), and Ms. LEE Ho Ching (Table Tennis). Mr. YEUNG Tak Keung, Commissioner for Sports of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and representatives from different National Sports Associations also showed their great support to the event with their presence.

Another five awardees were absent with apology due to overseas training and other reasons：Mr. CHIU Hin Chun (Rowing), Mr. HO Ian Yentou (Swimming), Mr. HO Kwan Kit (Table Tennis), Ms. CHONG Eudice Wong (Tennis) and Mr. Oscar COGGINS (Triathlon).

The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Shun Hing Group have specially prepared and presented commemorative certificates to the awardees. There were action photos of the awardees showing on the certificates which were taken during their matches or training. And a warm message was written on each certificate to show the encouragement to awardees and wish them strive for excellence in Hangzhou Asian Games and Paris Olympic Games!

Dr. David MONG highly appraised the performance of Hong Kong athletes at the Multi Sports Games, "The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games has been postponed to 2023. Many athletes have continued to train hard and participated in different international competitions in order to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games. Shun Hing Group hopes that the Programme can assist all awardees to focus on their training and better equip themselves." He hoped the awarded athletes would continue to break their own records and strive for excellence in the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and the Shun Hing Group jointly established the "Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme" and 10 new athletes were selected to be the Panasonic Sports Scholars from 2022-2024. Under the Programme, each of the awardees will be received a 32-month subsidy of HK$345,600 in total from January 2022 to August 2024 supported by Shun Hing Group. The Scholarship offers 10 athletes financial support to better prepare for the qualifying competitions and possibly in the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and Paris 2024 Olympics Games, through financial support towards specialized coaching services, the cost of their training, medical assistance and other items that would assist the athletes.

Mr. CHOI Chun Yin Ryan and Ms. LIN Yik Hei Coco both agreed that the training and competition experience gained in this year helped them to cultivate professional self-understanding and cherish the opportunity to be an athlete.
