Naming Ceremony of Mong Man Wai Building at School of Journalism & Communication at Peking University to honor the late Dr William M W Mong

In appreciation of the founder of Shun Hing Group, Dr William M W Mong's generous support to Peking University, the main building of the School of Journalism & Communication has been named "Mong Man Wai Building". Mr David Mong, Chairman & CEO of Shun Hing Group and Professor Lin Jianhua, President of Peking University officiated at the naming ceremony on 10 April 2018. Many elite representatives from education and business sectors in Mainland China and Hong Kong attended this momentous event.

Professor Lin presented the 'Outstanding Award for Contribution to Education' to Mr David Mong, recognizing the contribution of Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund (SHECF) to Peking University throughout the years. 'We will continue to support the development of the School of Journalism and Communication and the Center for New Structural Economics at Peking University, nurturing talents for the society,' said Mr Mong.

In 1993, SHECF donated USD 1 million for setting up the 'Peking University Mong Man Wai International Exchange Fund' to pave the way for internationalization of the University. In 2009, Dr Mong donated RMB 20 million to support the building of the School of Journalism & Communication.

Peking University is a pioneer institution in professional journalism education and it started the first journalism study course in China. The construction of the School of Journalism & Communication was completed in 2014, aiming to upgrade the facilities and provide students with the most advanced and excellent learning environment.
