Plaque Unveiling Ceremony for Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University

A plaque unveiling ceremony took place at the Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University on 8 May 2023. The ceremony was officiated by Professor An Hong, Vice-President of Jinan University, Professor Hong Zhang, Vice-President of Jinan University, Mr. An-ding Xu, Dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, Mr. Si-cheng Bi, Party Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University and Dr. David Mong, Chairman and Group CEO of Shun Hing Group.

To thank the support and donation of the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund, Jinan University set up the "Building and Development Fund for the Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University", with an aim of facilitating the development of digestive endoscopy research room as well as nurturing more outstanding medical experts for the society.

"The Mong's family has a longstanding relationship with Jinan University, they made numerous donations in cash and in kind over the years and improving the eligibility and course development of the University. Dr. David Mong donated RMB5,000,000 to the University again last year, supporting the establishment of the Digestive Endoscopy Center. On behalf of the University, I express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Mong for his generosity and wholehearted support," Professor An Hong, Vice-President of Jinan University said.

Dr. Mong Man Wai, founder of Shun Hing Group was the director of Jinan University starting from 1979, he continuously supported the building and development of Jinan University. He made significant contributions to the Physics Building in 2002, cultivating talents and course advancement as well as developing a solid base for talents. Dr. David Mong, Chairman and Group CEO of Shun Hing Group has taken up the directorship of Jinan University since 2004.

"My family has a very deep friendship with Jinan University. While I am witnessing the plaque unveiling ceremony for Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, I am continuing my father's affection and opening a new chapter with Jinan University at the same time. With the establishment of the Center, I hope to create an excellent environment for the development of health care service and enhance the medical standard to benefit all mankind," Dr. Mong said.

The need for diagnosis of digestive system is increasing gradually nowadays, the Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University carries out nearly 40,000 endoscopies each year, 80% of them are painless digestive endoscopies, ranking the first position in the nation. The set-up of Digestive Endoscopy Center facilitates the development of new technology and new application in the society, ultimately allowing early treatment and suitable medication.

Shun Hing Group marks its 70th Anniversary this year, true to the charitable spirit, the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund contributed to meaningful initiatives in Hong Kong and Mainland China, sharing over HK$1.7 billion with the needy.
